Item Adaptions of Bungalows in the Lower Peninsula/Cypress Swamp Zone of Delaware, 1880-1940+/-(1990) Herman, Bernard L.; Mulchahey, Susan A.; Siders (Sheppard), Rebecca J.; Lanier, Gabrielle M.; Zeigler, Nancy K.The period between 1880 and 1940 was a time of great growth in the urban population of the United States and Delaware. Accompanying this growth was the development of suburbs and new building types that expressed the values, desires, and economic situation of the suburban population. One of these new forms was the bungalow. Its thrifty style and easy- to-build design made it very attractive to urban dwel.lers seeking a new environment. During this period, a proliferation of bungalow advertisements, floor plans, and decorating ideas appeared in the popular literature of the period.Item African-American Population of Delaware: 1800-1980(1991-02) Ames, David L.; Callahan, Mary Helen; Chase, Susan M.; Siders (Sheppard), Rebecca J.Item Agricultural Tenancy in Central Delaware, 1700-1900+/-: A Historic Context(Center for Historic Architecture and Engineering, 1991-07) Siders (Sheppard), Rebecca J.; Herman, Bernard L.; Ames, David L.; Marth, Andrea L.; Lanier, Gabrielle M.; Watson, Margaret H.; Bellingrath, Elizabeth M.; Van Dolsen, Nancy; Bashman, Leslie D.; Chase, Susan M.Item The Almshouse and Insane Asylum: Salem County's Landmarks and Legacy of Poor Relief(2010-06-14T18:09:30Z) Sheridan, Janet L.Salem County possesses a tangible legacy of public poor relief. This legacy is embodied in a landmark building known as the Salem County Insane Asylum. It is the survivor of a pair of brick buildings known in more recent times as the Lakeview Complex and the County Home, situated on the County Farm in Mannington Township. The Salem County Almshouse was the other of these two significant, related buildings, but it was lost in April, 2007. Late efforts to let a stabilization contract and raise funding were met with disappointment, and it began collapsing in on itself after years of neglect. The surviving Insane Asylum has been nominated to the National Register of Historic Places, and that nomination documents that building primarily. This paper evolved out of an effort to nominate both buildings which preceded the demolition of the Almshouse. It documents the broader historic context and the architecture of both buildings.Item Armstrong - Walker House(1984) Herman, Bernard L.; Macintire, WilliamItem Belleview(1984) Jicha, III., Hubert F.; Bensinger, TrishItem The Canning Industry in Delaware, 1860 To 1940+/-: A Historic Context(1993) Siders, Rebecca J.; Doerrfeld, Dean A.; Ames, David L.The Canning Historic Context was developed in response to the loss of historic resources dealing with Delaware's industrial heritage. While concerted efforts have preserved and interpreted Delaware's industrial and economic resources in northern New Castle County, the physical resources related to activities in the rural two-thirds of the state are quickly disappearing. The goal of this project was to identify and record one facet of rural industrial activity and identify other areas in need of research.Item The Changing Landscape of the St. Jones Neck Under the Influence of the Dickinson Family, 1680-1850: An Exhibit Script(1994-08) Siders (Sheppard), Rebecca J.; Edwards, Pamela C.Item Choptank(1984) Lush, RichardItem Choptank-Upon-The-Hill(1984) Bensinger, TrishItem Cleaver House(1984) Catts, WadeItem Delaware Agricultural Museum, A Place in Time: Continuity and Change in Mid-Nineteenth Century Delaware(1986) Michel, H. By examining technology, the construction process of ships and boats, and ship yard organization, this historic context will explore a segment of Delaware's industrial heritage that reached numerous cities and towns along Delaware's coastal waterways and extended well beyond the Brandywine River in the north (traditionally thought of as the industrial center of Delaware).Item Dwellings of the Rural Elite in Central Delaware, 1770-1830+/-(Center for Historic Architecture and Engineering, 1989-12) Herman, Bernard L.; Lanier, Gabrielle M.; Siders (Sheppard), Rebecca J.; Van Balgooy, MaxItem Elm Grange(1984) Jicha, III., Hubert F.; Bensinger, TrishItem Evaluation Of The Brandywine Village Historic District National Register Nomination(1991-03) Ames, David L.; Bashman, Leslie D.; Harper, Deborah; Mulchahey, Susan A.; Pendleton, Phil; Siders (Sheppard), Rebecca J.Item Fairview(1984) Diethorn, KarrieItem Fields Heirs(1984) Jicha, III., Hubert F.; Bensinger, Trish; Macintire, WilliamItem Fort Dupont Historic District(1999-03-08) Siders (Sheppard), Rebecca J.; Andrzejewski, AnnaItem Fort Dupont Historic District(1999) Andrzejewski, Anna; Siders (Sheppard), Rebecca J.
