Abstract
Se analiza el papel de la poética zuritiana en los documentales Nostalgia de la luz y El botón
de nácar de Patricio Guzmán. Propongo que son las operaciones y lenguajes de la poesía
de Raúl Zurita las que informan el cine político, personal y poético de esta etapa de la
obra del documentalista chileno. El ensayo explora los sentidos de un vínculo fundante
entre cine documental y poesía. Propongo que la dimensión cosmológica presente en los
filmes del 2010 y 2015 respectivamente, está informada por la poética zuritiana en general y en particular por la de su volumen Inri. Interpreto las metáforas fílmicas de Guzmán como una dimensión válida y necesaria para comprender las repercusiones de la violencia dictatorial en Chile.
We analyze the role of Zuritian poetics in Patricio Guzmán’s documentaries Nostalgia de
la luz (Nostalgia for the Light) and El botón de nácar (The Pearl Button). I propose that the
language used by Raúl Zurita in his poetry is what informs or gives shape to the political,
personal and poetic cinematography during this particular moment of the Chilean
documentary filmmaker’s work. The essay explores the meanings of a founding link
between documentary cinema and poetry. I propose that the cosmological dimension that
is present in the 2010 and 2015 films respectively, is informed by Zurita’s poetics in
general and in particular by that of his volume Inri. I interpret Guzmán's filmic metaphors
as a valid and necessary dimension to understanding the repercussions of dictatorial
violence in Chile.
