DescriptionDiscusses activities of U.S. Railway Mission to Mexico; Mexican railways had never been adequate; traffic was slow, locomotives and freight cars outmoded and in many cases worn out, rails too light for heavy traffic; during war important to be able to transport strategic materials from Mexico and to supply Mexico with needed foodstuffs; U.S. Government agreed to spend maximum of 100 million dollars to improve Mexican railway facilities and sent mission headed by Oliver Stevens to handle job; mission had full collaboration of Mexican Government, and its efforts were successful.en_US
