Abstract
This essay is the first formal report of an ongoing project on the rural culture of Delaware. This project has two closely related purposes. First, it is intended to model the agricultural economy of the State in the period, 1850-1950. Second, it seeks to describe that economy in as
precise detail as possible at selected times during that period.
