Ditadura, imprensa e o “problema do menor: assistência à infância no Brasil (1980-1985)

Abstract

Durante o processo de democratização da sociedade brasileira, ao fim da ditadura civil militar, dentre o montante de jornais publicados no Brasil, alguns se destacaram porque tornaram a infância parte de sua agenda jornalística. Este artigo investiga as principais temáticas debatidas pelo jornal Folha de São Paulo na década de 1980 no que concerne à assistência à infância. Entre os discursos enunciados pelo periódico destacam-se: a incorporação do “problema do menor” em um discurso que colocava em cena a obtenção de direitos; o relativo à responsabilidade da família e da comunidade na educação dos infantes; e os que discutiam o labor infanto-juvenil. Abstract: During the process of democratization of Brazilian society, at the end of military-civilian dictatorship, some of the numerous newspapers published in Brazil were unique in making childhood part of their journalistic agenda. This article investigates the main themes discussed by the newspaper Folha de São Paulo in the 1980s regarding childcare. Among the discourses enunciated by the newspaper that can be highlighted are: the incorporation of the "problem of minors" in a discourse whose subject was the acquisition of rights; the responsibility of family and community in the education of children; and child and juvenile labor.
