Abstract
Description
The current model of cemeteries is not sustainable in urban conditions when sustainability is defined as poor land use, the use of toxic materials, and the overuse of natural resources and energy consumption - none of which is favorable to future generations.
Looking to the Past to determine our Future - Green Burial seeks to bury without impediment. This practice means that there is no embalming, liners, vaults, and using biodegradable containers or shrouds. Natural burial strives to provide rich experiences for families and friends amidst careful restoration and maintenance of the land. The method than goes beyond this and preserves the land for the future generations by the creation of a self-sufficient landscape.
