Abstract
Description
As with the previous folder, this folder groups together materials from several generations of the residents of Oaklands. Included are materials addressed to Thomas B. Wilson, Rathmell Wilson, Martha Wilson, Helen Elizabeth Wilson, Anna Mary (Allen) Wilson, and the Misses Wilson. The folder includes several invitations for "Pic nic" parties, cotillions, and dinners. Also included are an 1847 pass to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, a 1951 pass to the Delaware Horticultural Society exhibit, and several invitations and tickets for concerts in the 1850s. Concert ephemera include a ticket to see M'lle Jenny Lind's Grand Concert, sponsored by P. T. Barnum, and an 1853 broadside for "Ole Bull's Last Grand Concert for the benefit of the suffering colonists in Oleona." A wedding invitation and newspaper clipping about the marriage of Elizabeth Shippen Green and Huger Elliot also appear. Shippen Green was a former classmate of Anna Mary (Allen) Wilson and became a well-known illustrator.
