Enclosures: Nos. 1164 & 1199. Relates efforts to help Fritz Kreisler and wife out of difficulties; Mrs. Kreisler an American citizen and Christian; Kreisler had sworn he was only half Jewish and did not identify himself with Judaism; Propaganda Ministry sent experts to Vienna to check records and found he had four Jewish grandparents; government sequestered his property and indicated he would be indicted for violation of Nürnberg Laws; Kreisler's lawyer made application to Hitler to have Vienna findings quashed and Kreisler restored to former status; agreed that Geist should take matter up with [Otto L.E.] Meissner and [Josef] Goebbels; enclosing copy of approval signed by Meissner and newspaper picture showing Geist at diplomatic dinner in conversation with Meissner.
