Abstract
Description
Safety is a fundamental concern for any community. And, even though crime
has fallen in the past decade, citizens still regard public safety as a primary issue for the
well-being of the community. Specifically, citizens are most threatened by violent crime
that involves the use of a firearm, particularly handguns. With that concern in mind, the
Laffey-McHugh Foundation and the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League engaged the
University of Delaware to construct an accurate picture of handgun violence in Delaware.
This report represents the result of those efforts.
