AbstractIn this paper, we investigate ultrasound waves passing through a skeletal muscle segment of a specimen. The model is solved using an extension of a method due to Ilya Vekua. An ansatz is made that a solution to a partial differential equation can be found in a form resembling the ansatz of Vekua. It is shown that this is indeed possible. This method is used continuously throughout the paper to find simple representations of the acoustic equations in the different muscle and bone regions.en_US
