DescriptionIn 1701, William Penn granted New Castilians rights to lots extending from the water line out into the Delaware River across from their riverfront properties. This study of historic documents and graphics, ground penetrating radar results, and stratigraphy and artifacts from test excavations interprets the environmental history of ‘making land’ along the Delaware Riverfront beginning in the 1760s. These findings have special relevance today as the Delaware Historical Society and the community plan to protect the town from sea level rise and storm surges.en_US
