DescriptionIntroduction: Kennett Square Pennsylvania, is known for its main street, its close proximity to Longwood Gardens, and The Creamery. The Creamery is located on Birch Street(seen below in cutout). The Creamery is a renovated dairy barn that was reopened in 2016 as a gathering space for families to hear live music, congregate, socialize, eat and drink and even participate in ax throwing. From their website, The Creamery is “A community gathering space for the whole family. Add food, craft beer and cocktails, lawn games and live music and you have everything that you need for a good time!” (Creamery Website).” Birch Street is a connector road to some of the busier streets in Kennett Square, experiencing a lot of pedestrian and vehicular volume and there was the thought that it could become a more vibrant connector with even more amenities to serve the community members who frequent the Creamery. What could Birch Street become? How might a redesigned street improve the street’s ability to absorb stormwater runoff, enhance accessability, and making it more walkable?en_US
