Description | On April 14, 1993 a major fire occurred at the largest truck plant in Europe, this being the Kamski plant in Russia (KamAZ is the Russian acronym which we will use in the rest of the report). The fire was finally contained after a week of enormous effort. Even though there were no fatalities as a result of the disaster, it is probably the worst in the car industry both in the former Soviet Union and the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), and one of the largest scale technological disasters in Russia in the 1990s. | en |
