From the Hugh Wilson Papers at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, West Branch, Iowa. Agrees with decision to delay [Frank C.] Lee's departure for Amsterdam. Hopes he get comfortably settled in a suitable house in Berlin. Recommends the assistance of [Raymond] Geist. Glad to have note of February 17. Prentiss Gilbert should feel free to write State Department . Welcomes any comment on the situation. Chamberlain's appeasement policy causing State Department some concern. Recent articles in U.S. papers about the discovery of a "spy ring." Unfortunate that Justice Department had to "spill the beans" in making this public. Grateful for any information about movements and activities of certain persons coming to the U.S. Interested in German statements that Germans in this country are told not to become members of the Bund.
