Description
While in Washington recently, talked to President Roosevelt and Secretary Cordell Hull about collaboration with other American countries in post-war planning; essential to have as much continental unity as possible; Mexico and Brazil collaborating fully now and will no doubt continue after war; believes other American countries, with exception of Argentina, will fall into line; Mexican Foreign Minister, [Ezequiel] Padilla planning tour of South American countries; both Secretary Hull and President Roosevelt agreed it would be helpful if Padilla came to Washington and conferred with them on post-war problems and planning before making South American tour; on return to Mexico discussed matter with Padilla and President Avila Camacho, who agreed that Padilla should go to Washington; thinks real reason for trip should be kept confidential.
