Appreciates courtesy of President Avila Camacho, other officials of Mexican Government, and colleagues of diplomatic corps in being present to take part in ceremony; library the result of a cooperative effort in which various agencies of U.S. Government worked with American Library Association to make project possible; special thanks to [Carl H.] Milan, [Marion A.] Milczewski, and [Charles Harvey] Brown of the American Library Association for their contribution and to Harry M. Lydenberg who has consented to organize library and become its first director; it is hoped library will make positive contribution to better understanding between Mexico and U.S.; assembled collection will include significant books and periodicals from U.S. as well as representative works from Mexico and educational motion pictures; children's room will contain books in Spanish and English; it is hoped library will become genuine cultural center where citizens of Mexico may come freely and mingle with U.S. citizens resident in Mexico.
