Abstract

Description

Wills, mortgages, deeds, bonds, receipts, and other legal papers of the maternal relations of the Misses Wilson: the Allen family and Oliver families, relations of Anna Mary (Allen) Wilson, wife of Edward R. Wilson. Oliver family members referenced include Mary Oliver, Mary Oliver Redden, Joseph G. Oliver, Amanda (Allen) Oliver, and Thomas Oliver. "Family Record" pages, probably from a bible, are also included. Allen family members referenced include Scattergood Allen, Charles Allen, Amanda (Allen) Oliver, John Allen, Ann Allen, and Rebecca Allen. Handwritten drafts and official copies of wills, stock shares in the Christiana Canal Company, and an 1871 letter from the Wilmington Fountain Society to Ann and Rebecca Allen regarding the use of a spring of their property are also included. Papers associated with Scattergood Allen include a mortgage, bond and deed, and references to Samuel R. Nields, Samuel Kelley, Peter Springer, and William Cornog. Also included is an insurance policy for a "Brick Store House."
