Abstract
If grounds managers are to reduce or hold down maintenance costs, they must utilize more objective techniques to determine time and other costs for specific maintenance activities. Personnel inadequacies, financial cutbacks, equipment breakdowns, and other problem require the manager to use this information to efficiently and effectively allocate men, money, and machinery.
In this thesis, Grounds Maintenance Time Requirements, are discussions of previous time studies and suggestions for the use of tine study data by grounds managers for budgeting, planning, and evaluating maintenance programs. New information and data gathered from not-for-profit horticultural institutions are presented. An analysis and interpretation of this new data and recommendations for future studies are also included. Appendices include references for other sources of grounds maintenance time requirement data, and recordkeeping and time studies information.
