DescriptionFrom the Hugh Wilson Papers at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, West Branch, Iowa. Expands on his March 16 letter regarding visits of Hemmen and Aschmann to the U.S. After reading Prentiss' [Gilbert] telegram no. 54 of February 14 and discussing the matter with him, believes purpose of Hemmen's visit would be to become closer with the American scene to better handle conversations should the trade treaty matter reach that stage. Aschmann's trip seems off. Thinks that at one time there was thought of sending him to get information concerning the American press. But is interested in Messersmith's suggestion that his purpose was to further propaganda.en_US
