Description | Thanks Kelchner for generous letter of Aug. 19; personnel from Embassy and Consulate detailed to make arrangements for U.S. delegation did good job and they appreciated generous letter from Secretary [Cordell Hull]; all who had anything to do with Conference feel gratified at having been able to participate; vacation plans went wrong; had planned to leave for Cape Cod on Aug. 19, but matters still pending in Havana prevented departure; Mrs. Messersmith left as planned; hopes to join her later; must be back in Cuba by Oct. 10 to attend inauguration of new President; has tried to learn from Foreign Office when certified texts of Final Act and Convention will be sent, but has had no satisfactory response; will keep after them. | en_US |
