Privileged to address message to people of Mexico and of other American republics as part of series of broadcasts known as "Calling Pan America"; in few days Mexico will celebrate her Independence Day; freedom again at stake; Germany, Italy, and Japan have for years been preparing for war to make all other people their slaves; it is their objective to destroy all things held dear by freedom loving people - homes, children, religion, institutions, customs, and freedom; since this is a war for very existence, it calls for everyone making all possible sacrifices, even blood; Mexico has been true to her great tradition; she has joined family of allies and is adding her great resources and strength to those nations which are determined to defeat the enemy and preserve their freedom; feels confident that Mexico and U.S., joined with other free peoples of the world, will crush evil forces of Axis powers and when victory is achieved will be able, through common efforts, to make world a better place in which to live.en_US
