Description | Regrets seeing so little of Raynor in Mexico City; Inter-American meeting most significant held in last hundred years; was informed Secretary away for rest, but that his correspondence is getting Raynor's attention; has no plans for going to Washington in near future; needs to have "repair" job done at Naval Hospital, but nothing pressing; important staff conversations going on between U.S. and Mexican Military on military collaboration after war; felt presence necessary; may go to San Francisco meeting if needed and President and Secretary desire it; knowledge of European background and personalities over many years may be useful; President indicated in December he had Messersmith in mind for European post after war but wanted him to stay on in Mexico until certain things are cleared up; will not seek post, but will not refuse if asked; European post during allied occupation could be difficult. | en_US |
