Abstract
Description
Deedes report tells little not already known; believes nothing useful would result from visit to Vienna by "American version" of Deedes; only way Foreign Service can help is by supplying information to International Committee; has advised [Myron] Taylor that [Raymond] Geist from Berlin and [Arthur C.] Frost from Zurich could meet him in Paris and give him verbally such information as he wished; money for relief of refugees must be raised by private organizations; hopes something constructive may be done at Evian meeting; important to avoid publicity; U.S. wants to be helpful, but cannot undertake solution alone; some refugees feel that the U.S. owes them a debt and expect to be placed in high positions here; many are highly critical of way things are done here; they do their cause a disservice.
