Fitzsimons, Matthew2017-03-202017-03-202016http://udspace.udel.edu/handle/19716/21144Potential tetra-aza catalytic platforms have been synthesized and there electronic structures investigated through various methods. A tris (pentafluorophenyl) phlorin derivative was bound to a phosphorous(V) central atom. The complex was characterized with electronic spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The complex was compared with an analogous phosphorous corrole. A novel bis(imino) ligand with a dipyrromethane spacer was developed and bound to several metal centers, including Ni(II) and Zn(II). These complexes and the free-base ligand were characterized with a variety of techniques and structures were confirmed with X-ray crystallography.Synthesis and development of novel tetra-aza catalyst platformsThesis976432229
