And, even though crime has fallen in the past decade, citizens still regard public safety as a primary issue for the well-being of the community. Specifically, citizens are most threatened by violent crime that involves the use of a firearm, particularly handguns. With that concern in mind, the Laffey-McHugh Foundation and the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League engaged the University of Delaware to construct an accurate picture of handgun violence in Delaware.
