All three of the documented buildings that reflect this construction style in Kent County can be traced directly to Manlove Hayes (d. 1849). These are the Old Stone Tavern (c. 1822), the Octagonal Schoolhouse (1834) and the stone addition at Hayes' personal residence, York Seat (1826.)
