Howland] Shaw and [Charles B.] Hosmer helpful and cooperative; was in intimate contact in recent years with those who would use force as primary weapon of internal and external policy; U.S. cannot remain isolated out of desire for peace; if Germany gets control of rest of world, U.S. will be next target; U.S. should take steps now which enlightened self interest dictates; has interesting field in Cuba; key to some of problems in American republics lies here; if Stuart and Mrs. Stuart take holiday in area would be delighted to have them for visit. | en_US |
