Medal presented to Messersmith by President Perón on the occasion of Messersmith's resignation from the post of Ambassador to Argentina in 1947. Copies of a memorandum transmitted from Buenos Aires to Washington detail UP press reports of Messesmith's resignation and the subsquent award of the medal. This can be found among the news clippings in these papers.
