Abstract
The issue of inadequate mental health education among collegiate emergency medical first responders is addressed in this Doctor of Nursing practice change project. To properly care for patients with co-occurring mental and physical illnesses, emergency medical technicians claim a lack of mental health knowledge and abilities. It has been demonstrated that anxious, fearful, and insecure thoughts result in poor provider-patient interactions and reduced professional effectiveness. Evidence from recent studies shows that educational programs emphasizing mental health knowledge help healthcare staff develop an awareness of and attitudes about mental illness. This project examines results on mental health knowledge and stigmatization attitudes using Lewin’s change theory.
