La Prensa reports Brazilian Ambassador to Argentina, [João Bautista] Lusardo to be recalled; Lusardo denied report; he said he was going to Brazil, but for other reasons, and would return to Argentina; doesn't know real reason for trip, but knows Lusardo is uncertain in his post; situation between Argentina and Brazil not good; cannot tell where blame lies; Brazil has always bought her wheat from Argentina but according to Lusardo none has been shipped since June and Brazil's flour mills idle; Argentina claims wheat stocks overestimated and does not have surplus; Argentina claims also Brazil has not supplied to Argentina the promised rubber and textiles; was asked by Foreign Minister [Juan Atilia] Bramuglia to accompany him to see Perón on Sept. 13; Perón greatly concerned about dangers of Communism and recommended concerted action by all American countries to combat it; he urged Messersmith to go to Washington to discuss matter with President Truman and Secretary; told him that was not possible at present; brought up subject of enemy property and enemy aliens in Argentina; told him that while some progress had been made it was not yet adequate; Perón agreed and said they were working on the problem.
