DescriptionAcknowledges letter of March 19 and clipping from Times covering UP dispatch to which Times gives headline "Perón Posters Ask Boycott of Prensa"; AP dispatch of Mar. 16 stated Ministry of Labor had received petition from News Vendors Union which was sent on to La Prensa with orders to comply with it; Times article headlined this despatch "Perón Cracks Down on Leading Latin American Newspaper"; both dispatches misleading; Perón not responsible for posters, which were ordered removed from streets; Ministry of Labor transmitted News Venders' petition to La Prensa for reply, but without orders of any kind; although irked by some of the criticism in the press, the Argentine Government understands that freedom of the press must be maintained; has written two despatches on the subject to Department and has informed Department there should be no objection to copies being made available to Sulzberger and his associates for background information.en_US
