Important that U.S. normalize relations with Argentina for several reasons; cannot have hemisphere solidarity without Argentina; must have Argentine cooperation in negotiating defense pact; growing Soviet activity in Latin American countries; Moscow violently opposed to inter-American solidarity and defense pact; Argentina one of few Latin American countries who can be counted on to combat Communist penetration; recent agreement concluded between Argentina and Great Britain has strengthened British position; plenty of room in Argentina for Britain and U.S. in matter of trade, but equilibrium should be maintained; enclosing clipping from La Epoca.
