Guiding Question: How can a hospital’s campus and surrounding landscape best support the psychological wellbeing & physical recovery of patients, their families, and caregivers? Founded in 1890, ChristianaCare’s Newark campus in Delaware is a nationally-ranked, non-profit medical center and teaching hospital. Several expansions and additions have surrounded current buildings in a sea of parking. Introducing more access to designed green spaces for all hospital users would substantially enhance physiological and emotional well-being and improve both mental and physical recovery.
