Comments on attempts of Roosevelt to arrange meeting between Hitler, Mussolini, and himself to try to prevent outbreak of war; saw Hitler's reply to Roosevelt's letter- in fact, translated it for him; it was most unsatisfactory; thinks Mussolini tried to reply through Italian Ambassador, but Roosevelt wouldn't have it that way.
