Description
Informed by German lawyer Dutch antiaircraft batteries manned by Germans in Dutch uniforms; leading man in one big German industries reported Germany determined to bring England to knees by attack on and invasion of England; plan to be accomplished by bombing raids and submarines on English coast, shipping, and industrial centers; he requested that U.S. be informed of plan in order that she may be prepared to supply war materials to allies; Hitler may try to accomplish object before U.S. prepared; only with immediate and active help of U.S. can allied cause be served; rumored that Hitler already building rooms at Obersalzberg to hold peace conference; he thinks England will be ready to make peace before end of summer; informant said sad to see capitalists in all countries considering nothing but their property and profits; mentioned Swedish millionaire [Axel] WennerGren in this respect; Hitler might make mild peace with England now to prevent U.S. entering war, but his word is worth nothing.
