Abstract
The heart of fashion in Italy can be found in the city of Milan. The center of Milan is filled with fashion houses from many famous Italian designers. The industry began to flourish after the Second World War with an increase in the industrial sector and textile businesses. Milan became known as the place where designers would show off their ready-to-wear designs which became its own era during the 1980s. Two of the most famous designers during this time period were Giorgio Armani and Valentino Garavani. Giorgio Armani started his career in 1957 at one of the biggest department stores in Italy: La Rinascente. He was most famous for his unstructured jacket that he created for men and then eventually for women. Valentino was always interested in fashion since being a young boy. He started his career in the late ‘50s. He is known for his Haute Couture designs and signature red color that he has incorporated into each of his collections. Both designers have been featured in documentaries and have received awards for their success in fashion. The fashion houses of Valentino and Armani are both still very well-known and successful today.
