Among items called to attention of Funk were the closing of the Jewish Telegraph Agency by order of German Secret Police, the continued discriminatory action against American owned photographic firms in Germany, and the activities of [Douglas] Brinkley, an American citizen in Germany, passing himself off as a spokesman for the American people.
