Description
Anglo-American Trade Agreement will be important signpost of British policy; [Evelyn John] Strachey applied for, and was granted, visa at Consulate General in London; later information revealed Strachey member of Executive Council of British Communist Party and visa cancelled; Strachey knew he might have trouble on arrival but sailed for New York anyway; perhaps law should be changed but consul acted correctly under the law; situation regrettable because of publicity, which Strachey wanted.
