Repercussions from Evian Conference not bad; fact of a permanent organization a satisfaction; Myron Taylor pleased; most immigrants to U.S. are fine people, but will be unobtrusive, while aggressive, unattractive type will make himself conspicuous; U.S. cannot be expected to solve Jewish problem; much pressure on Austrian Jews to accelerate migration; Gestapo furthering illegal transport of refugees; believed to be giving out illegal French visas; publicity has so far been restrained, but likely to increase; reporters from many foreign newspapers in Vienna; doubts if publicity can do more harm than has already been done; urges extreme accuracy and objective reporting; Allen Dulles and wife visited Vienna, coming from Berlin; were told by German friends Jewish situation worse in Austria than in Germany, that Austrian Party got "out of hand"; circumstances do not bear out this statement; systematic plunder of the Jews, ejection from their homes, expulsion from country Nazi, not Austrian policy.
