DescriptionAccording to the CDC, suicide is the third leading cause of death among youth and young adults ages 10 to 24 in the United States. The complexity of suicidal behavior and thoughts is rooted in various social, economic, familial and individual risk factors. This publications provides a data snapshot of youth and young adult deaths from suicide in Delaware, compares youth and young adult death from suicide to youth and young adult death from other causes, young adults in Delaware reporting poor mental health, and provides a state demographic profile of the youth and young adult population recognizing that risk factors for suicidal behavior are not evenly dispersed across racial, ethnic, gender, or sexual identities.
