Abstract
This thesis examines two energy storage technologies, hydrogen fuel cell systems
and electrochemical batteries, on the basis of their technological capabilities and their
economic costs. The technological capabilities examined are efficiency, size, and
performance abilities. These factors are used to determine which of the two technologies
would be better suited in the implementation of a renewable energy system as the
dominant energy carrier.
