Abstract
The proposed dissertation follows a three-article format. All three articles are focused on the Latin American region. The articles represent distinct but interrelated strands of research; the first article focuses on assessing the impact of political parties' length of governing in power [years] on state capture. The second article explores the effect of wealth inequality on state capture. The third article examines the impact of democracy and rule of law on state capture. All three pieces address issues of political systems, governance, and economic inequalities.
