Abstract

Infrared scene projectors (IRSPs) are a critical laboratory tool for setup, test and calibration of infrared imaging systems that range from medical and industrial to military and scientific. Infrared (IR) Light Emitting Diodes (IRLEDs) are a new emitter technology for building IRSP systems with higher resolution and faster frame rates. Previously, we have successfully developed the first ever single-color 512x512 super-lattice light emitting diodes (SLEDS) IRSPs which has been running for the past 2 years conducting research and collecting data to improve future versions of IRSPs. -- The following thesis describes a scalable firmware architecture that meets the performance requirements of emerging IRLED IRSP systems. Our firmware enables the ability to add hardware modules to Two-Color SLEDs Array (TCSA) and future versions of the system to increase performance or add functionality as needed by the user.
