Description
The project will provide a new recreational opportunity for an under-served suburban/urban community in the form
of a disc golf course in New Castle County, Delaware. This will act to improve wildlife habitat on site while providing
local assets for the community. This booklet is meant to add to the limited academic body of work advocating for
effective disc golf course design in the growing sport. Below are the goals and objectives of the project.
Design with environmental priority
-Utilize existing natural environment in design
-Create new and/or improve wildlife habitat
-Minimize soil degradation by players with design interventions
Create a space for all user groups
-Layout the course for multiple skill levels
-Integrate ADA accessible circulation
-Create a safe space for players and non-players
Improve local engagement
-Bring new public amenities to the site
-Add interpretive education to the course
