| Description | video demonstration of glow-in-the-dark meaning | Performed as part of the 2009 Dumbo Art Under the Bridge Festival, Brooklyn, NY. Throughout this performance, which took place after dark in a children’s playground by the East River, Abby Donovan communicated with her three assistants by cell phone. The piece involved the artist, her 3 assistants, 2 incubator suitcases full of glowing letters, and a fishing pole. As the artist lowered the letters down from the mock ship she periodically called her assistants to let them know when they could form a word. The assistants were also responsible for trying to keep the letters glowing by holding them up to their headlamps. | |
