AbstractThis report documents work completed under the terms of our FishAmerica Foundation grant for FAF 10025 White Clay Creek Shad Restoration Project (Removal of Dam No. 1). This work includes field studies, engineering design, and permit applications for the removal of White Clay Creek Dam No. 1 (RM 4.2) to reopen 3.5 miles of the creek for the passage of American shad and hickory shad in New Castle County, Delaware. This will be the first dam removal project for fish passage in the entire State of Delaware. Removal of downstream-most Dam No. 1 along the White Clay Creek Wild and Scenic River is the first and most critical step in a 5-year plan to remove an additional 6 upstream dams and reopen fish passage for 14 miles from tidewater inland to the Piedmont at the Delaware/Pennsylvania state line.
