Abstract
In the United States, discussions around politics tend to follow a game-framing angle. In a country where major league sporting is so prominent, this is not surprising. But, what does cause confusion is the strong metaphorical line that separates politics from sport. Despite such connected terminology, these two colliding worlds are the subjects of this investigation. This paper will explore how politics fuel sport and how sports are inherently political, specifically within the National Football League. This is investigated through the opinions of National Football League fans and partisans. The main vehicle for this exploration is an International Review Board-approved survey that the researcher has created.
