Read Pittman's speech before Veterans of Foreign Wars and was impressed by its effectiveness; crisis rapidly approaching in Europe; Hitler must go ahead with external program or his regime will collapse; Czechoslovakia first, then Hungary, Rumania with its oil, and the granary of Southeastern Europe; Hitler must continue his program even though he precipitates war before he is ready for it; a clear and unequivocal attitude by England might still avert it.
