Enclosing letter from Baron [Egon] Berger-[Waldenegg]; his troubles seem, for the moment, ameliorated; [Neville] Chamberlain has come and gone; nothing remarkable occured, but thinks no harm done; resumption in Italian press of campaign against France indicates Mussolini considers little has changed; Hungary has decided to join Anti-Komintern Pact and if Yugoslavia and Poland can be persuaded to join, stage would be set for German push toward the Ukraine; hears [Hermann] Goering coming to Rome soon; this kind of activity will be increasing in next months.
