From the Hugh Wilson Papers at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, West Branch, Iowa. Replies to three letters of G.S.M., February 24 and 25. Would prefer to wait regarding the examination of the chancery for dictaphones, and having the D-1 code sent. Happy to make use of the courier arrangement should circumstances require it. Is not familiar with the circumstances of Dr. Hemmen's visit. Will have Prentiss [Gilbert] send a further letter. Regarding trade agreements feels it would be difficult to find a way of harmonizing the autarchical system with our most-favored-nation principle.
